Participant Registration Form

BioBuilders engineer living cells by modifying their DNA. High school students are invited to a four day workshop where they will learn the necessary molecular techniques and design principles for reprogramming micro-organisms. This laboratory-based workshop applies scientific understanding and bioengineering principles so students can become BioBuilders, ready to develop biotechnologies that meet society's needs.  Students will be introduced to the process of BioDesign using the BioBuilder curriculum, and will have a chance to explore how these principles might be used to solve real world problems.

Dates: April 21-24, 2020

Time: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, one hour break for lunch (please bring lunch)

Location: LabCentral, 700 Main Street, Cambridge

Cost: $600 for all instruction and materials.

Required background: Some understanding of cells and cell function. A working knowledge about DNA as the coding language of cells. Familiarity with a laboratory environment is helpful but not required.  

When registering, please enter the name of the participant as it should appear on a name badge.

LabCentral does not offer free parking. There is very limited meter parking on Main Street and other adjacent streets. Visitors are encouraged to use the MBTA. LabCentral is a half mile walk directly down Main Street from the Kendall Square/MIT Station on the Red Line and a half mile walk down Mass Ave to Main Street from the Central Square Station on the Red Line.   

A minimum of 10 attendees will be needed to run this workshop.

Cancellation Policy: Registration may be cancelled up to 7 days prior to the start of the workshop. In such cases, a refund of the registration fee will be issued, less any incurred payment processing charges. We are unable to refund registration fees for cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the start of the workshop. 

We reserve the right to dismiss any participants for disruptive behavior that impinges on safety and operation of the workshop or learning lab.
