In response to changing modes of education, BioBuilder is offering open online workshops and Custom Educational Sessions. This can be an alternative for those that might typically attend a workshop at the Learning Lab, or can provide an opportunity for teachers and students to engage with instructors such as BioBuilder's Learning Lab Teaching Fellows, guest lecturers, and Executive Director Dr. Natalie Kuldell.
Students and teachers participating in our Educational Sessions will be introduced to synthetic biology, a field of study that uses our understanding of biology and the principles of engineering to solve real-world problems. The sessions, based on the BioBuilder curriculum and motivated by the questions that scientists and engineers are trying to answer today, will reinforce the ideas and content that students have heard about in school.
Our Custom Educational Sessions offer:
Content that can be tailored to complement your classroom curriculum;
Pre- and post-assignments (if applicable);
Planning and operational support;
BioBuilder instructors to deliver content virtually;
A single workshop or a series of workshops.
Example of a recent 6-week series
Each session includes instruction, Q&A, and discussion of the instructor’s career path and current research. Students will be given pre-reading assignments and a follow-on assignment for each module.
